03 Feb Ember Room Grand Opening
The opening of Ember Room Restaurant proved to be a successful event. It was a packed house with
representatives from syndicated magazines such as Good HouseKeeping, Food & Wine, Bon Apetit
and of course Lifeofthecity.com. It wasn’t a surprise to see all these top media names out to cover the
event as Ember Room is the brain child of celebrity chef & author Todd English and Ian Chalermkittichai.
The restaurant was filled to capacity with a vibrant crowd of all ages & races out in full force and enthusiasm
to match, to taste the offerings of this new Hell’s Kitchen eatery.
The line outside the restaurant was very long because of the many patrons that came out.
After waiting about 20 minutes to enter Ember Room, and finally being admitted, my first stop was at the bar.
I had a very strong but refreshing Lucky Sapphire which main ingredients consisted of Gin, lemon juice,
ginger syrup and fresh lychee. It was so good that I had 2 more before my night was through.
I headed over to the food station to partake of what the chefs were serving up.
In total I tried 5 samples (each twice): fried rice with jumbo shrimp, roasted duck breast, pan seared scallops,
chicken lollipops with a tamarind glaze and my favorite of the night; bbq baby back ribs with chocolate sauce.
Chocolate on baby back ribs I hear you say? YES! It was tongue pleasing! Different but definitely delicious!
Ember Room has a lounge located on the upper floor that is small & cozy and can be used for private parties
and functions. The decor consists mostly of wood accents with gold trimmings, asian calligraphy,
eye catching hanging light fixtures All in all, the staff was very accommodating.
Everyone seemed to be having a great time. I surely did.
These two famous and talented chefs have managed to create food that fused Asian and American cuisine
into top of the line eats! Ember Room is certainly going to be a place I frequent, once they open their
doors on February 7th, 2011.
