We ended up in Morton’s Steakhouse on a weekday for early dinner. I have to admit that I am usually
eager to say nice things about a restaurant if either the atmosphere, food or service stands out
(and even if the other two sucked) BUT Morton’s Steakhouse gets thumbs down on my three
To sum up the service received from the hostess and servers in one word: SUBPAR!
It was almost as if we stumbled into this establishment on a holiday when the workers wanted to be
at home bonding with family instead of slaving away in this restaurant. The food was very basic
(a term I do not ever use when referring to food but I cannot find a more fitting word right now)
For appetizers we ordered lobster bisque, colossal shrimp Alexander and jumbo lump crab cake.
The crab cake and shrimp were fine but I only had two spoonfuls of the bisque. For entrees,
we ordered Chicken Christopher (dry and bland) with mashed potatoes (okay) and a filet mignon double cut
with baked mac and cheese.
My friend ordered a medium rare steak that came almost well done. She had to send it back and
we had to wait while the other steak was being prepared. We did not bother with dessert as we
felt it would just be a waste.
Our bill rang up to about $160 which is pretty pricey for what we got in exchange for our dollars.
All in all, this Morton’s location will not be one that I will visit anytime in the near future.
If it was just a bad day they were having when I visited, then I’m sorry that was the case.
The experience has marred my impression for a while to come.
