17 Dec The Spotted Pig
The Spotted Pig
My best friend and I left work after a long day and we decided to find a new spot instead of going to our usual go to spots of Corner Stone and Brooklyn Public so we decided to switch gears and go to Peter Luger. Obviously the hunger pains drove us to madness thinking we could go there without a reservation. The place was busting at the seams with people so we left and went on a Nick and Norahesque excursion for the next big meal. So we decided to head to the Lower East Side to grab something. After sitting in the car for a half an hour and passing by Royale as well as a few other spots, we decided to head to The Spotted Pig.
Located on East 11th between Greenwich and Christopher, TSP is a cozy two floor bar and restaurant that has a British menu. At first I was a little disgusted at the menu out of my own ignorance. Roast Pig ass with Sauteed Mushroom..okay let me be serious. The Calf’s Liver with Crispy Pancetta & Fried Sage didn’t seem that appealing to me and the Devil’s Egg appetizer I ordered hurt my stomach (too much vinegar), but the Chargrilled Burger with Roquefort Cheese (a tangy sheep blue cheese) & Shoestrings fries more than made up for it. Great and attentive service, lively atmosphere and an excellent pastry chef is what will draw me to come again.
